România strălucește la Campionatul European de Kurash 2025 – aur pentru Daniel Natea

În perioada 10–14 aprilie 2025, România a fost reprezentată cu mândrie de Federația Română de Kurash – sub egida Uniunii Democrate Tătare – la Campionatul European de Kurash desfășurat la Batumi, Georgia, unde au participat sportivi din peste 20 de țări.

Sportivul Daniel Natea a obținut medalia de aur și titlul de campion european, în timp ce Katsiaryna Kaliuzhnaya a urcat pe podium ca vicecampioană europeană. De asemenea, Andrei-Alexandru-Gabriel Ghinea a reușit o clasare meritorie pe locul cinci, aducând puncte valoroase delegației române.

Performanțele obținute consolidează poziția României în elita kurashului european și marchează o etapă importantă în ascensiunea acestui sport în țara noastră. În plus, Daniel Natea – sportiv de elită și formator de campioni prin Asociația Sportivă „Daniel Natea” – s-a calificat în prestigioasa ligă profesionistă World Pro Series, care va avea loc în Uzbekistan, competiție ce reunește cei mai buni luptători de kurash de pe fiecare continent.

Kurashul, sport de luptă cu origini milenare, este recunoscut oficial și a fost introdus ca disciplină sportivă separată la European Games 2023 în Polonia, marcând un moment-cheie în recunoașterea internațională. România a obținut atunci prima sa medalie la această competiție, confirmând potențialul acestui sport și al sportivilor noștri.

Este important de menționat că Uniunea Democrată Tătară – prin Federația Română de Kurash – este singura structură recunoscută oficial în România de către forurile internaționale, având rolul de a promova, organiza și reprezenta sportul kurash la nivel național și internațional.

Mulțumită eforturilor echipei UDT, România continuă să găzduiască și să participe la competiții internaționale de înalt nivel, apreciate pentru organizare, logistică și profesionalism de către comunitatea mondială a sporturilor de contact.

Romania Shines at the 2025 European Kurash Championship – Gold Medal for Daniel Natea

Between April 10–14, 2025, Romania was proudly represented by the Romanian Kurash Federation – under the umbrella of the Democratic Tatar Union – at the European Kurash Championship held in Batumi, Georgia, alongside athletes from over 20 countries.

Daniel Natea claimed the gold medal and the title of European Champion, while Katsiaryna Kaliuzhnaya secured the silver medal, earning the title of Vice-European Champion. Another member of the Romanian delegation, Andrei-Alexandru-Gabriel Ghinea, achieved an honorable fifth place, contributing valuable points to the team.

These remarkable results strengthen Romania’s position among the top European nations in kurash and mark another important milestone in the sport’s development within the country. Moreover, Daniel Natea – an elite athlete and trainer of champions at the renowned "Daniel Natea Sports Association" – has now qualified for the prestigious World Pro Series professional league, set to take place in Uzbekistan. This elite competition gathers the best kurash fighters from each continent, and Natea stands as a strong contender for the global title.

Kurash, a traditional wrestling discipline with ancient roots, is now gaining worldwide recognition and was introduced as a standalone sport at the 2023 European Games in Poland, where Romania secured a bronze medal in its debut. This highlights both the sport’s growing visibility and the success of Romanian athletes on the international stage.

It is worth emphasizing that the Democratic Tatar Union – through the Romanian Kurash Federation – is the only legally recognized organization in Romania, acknowledged by international kurash governing bodies, with the mandate to promote, train, and represent the sport at both national and international levels.

Thanks to the efforts of the UDT team, Romania continues to participate in and host high-level international kurash tournaments, widely appreciated for their organization, logistics, and professionalism by the global martial arts community.

High-level meetings for culture and sports in Uzbekistan

The year 2025 begins for the Tatar Democratic Union with official high-level working meetings aimed at establishing collaboration bridges that will lead to the creation of cultural bridges and the development of educational projects and the promotion of UNESCO intangible cultural heritage.

Between February 10-12, UDT President Mr. Naim Belgin participated in working meetings at the Ministry of Culture in the presence and with the participation of First Deputy Minister Tadjixanov Avazxon Baxadirovich and Deputy Minister of Sports Shakhrilllo Makhmudov from Uzbekistan, where the foundations of the collaboration strategy between our institutions for the year 2025 were laid, receiving with joy the appreciation for UDT's international activities so far.

The course of the official meetings continued at the headquarters of the Ethnosport Federation in Uzbekistan with Mr. President Norinbayev Oybek Qobiljanovich, where protocol gifts were exchanged and joint projects were discussed.

A special and forward-looking meeting also took place at the International Kurash Association with the Secretary General, Mr. Mohammad Reza Nassiri, where we established strategies and collaborations for the famous KURULTAI 2025 festival, which has international recognition and promotes traditional culture and sports, including Kurash competitions with the participation of 40 countries from 4 continents at a high professional level.

The Tatar Democratic Union has started the year with a bang, with exceptional projects and high-level collaborations aimed at enhancing the high professional level and organizational strategy through the creation of remarkable intercultural bridges!

Întâlniri la nivel înalt pentru cultură și sport în Uzbekistan

Anul 2025 debutează pentru Uniunea Democrată Tătară cu întâlniri oficiale -ședinte de lucru de rang înalt menite să stabilească punți de colaborare care să conducă la crearea de punți culturale şi dezvoltarea proiectelor educaționale şi de promovare a patrimoiului cultural imaterial UNESCO.

În perioada 10-12 februarie, preşedintele UDT- dl Naim Belgin a participat la sedintele de lucru din cadrul Ministerului Culturii în prezența si cu participare dl prim viceministru Tadjixanov Avazxon Baxadirovich şi din cadrul Ministerului Sportului – dl viceministru Shakhrilllo Makhmudov din Uzbekistan unde s-au pus bazele strategiei de colaborare dintre institutiile noastre pentru anul 2025, primind cu bucurie aprecierile pentru activitatile UDT la nivel international de până acum.

Parcursul întâlnirilor oficiale a continuat la sediul Federaţiei Ethnosport din Uzbekistan cu dl preşedinte Norinbayev Oybek Qobiljanovich, unde s-au facut schimb de cadouri protocolare si discutat proiecte comune.

O întalnire speciala şi de viitor, a fost şi la Federatia Mondială de Kurash cu secretarul general -dl Mohammad Reza Nassiri, unde am stabilit strategii şi colaborări pentru faimosul festival KURULTAI 2025 care are o recunoaştere internațională şi care promovează cultura şi sportul tradiţional printre care şi competiţiile Kurash cu particiaprea a 40 tari din 4 continente la nivel ȋnalt profesional.

Uniunea Democrată Tătară a început un an în forță cu proiecte deosebite şi colaborări la nivel înalt menite să aducă în valoare nivelul profesional înalt şi strategia de organizare prin crearea de punţi interculturale deosebite!

On December 24, a meeting dedicated to the inclusion of Kurash sport in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List was held in the conference hall of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by International and local experts, leading representatives from the fields of culture, sports, and heritage, as well as regional UNESCO representatives.

Kurash is not only a physical activity but also embodies world values such as peace, integrity, and respect.

A working group consisting of representatives from the International Kurash Association, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Kurash Institute, the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation, and the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO has prepared the nomination documents for this initiative.

As part of this process, a database on Kurash as an intangible cultural heritage object was developed.

During the meeting, the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and First Vice-President of the International Kurash Association, Adkham Ikramov with the President of the International Kurash Association, Haider Farman, emphasized that the inclusion of Kurash in UNESCO’s list would strengthen the cultural brand of the country and increase International attention to this sport.

“Kurash has risen from being a national value to becoming a common human value,” said Sherzodkhon Kudratkhodja, Vice-President of the International Kurash Association and Chairman of the Board of the Uzbekistan National Media Association.

“This sport, with a thousand-year history, requires all of us to take equal responsibility for its development and popularization,” added the IKA Vice-President.

Saida Azimova, Head of the Department of the National Commission for UNESCO, and Seungbum Lim, Head of the World Heritage Division of the International UNESCO Organization, spoke about UNESCO’s mission to protect and promote intangible cultural heritage. They outlined the necessary steps to ensure the inclusion of Kurash in this list and highlighted its significance for recognizing the cultural role of sports in the future.

Mohammad Reza Nassiri, General Secretary of the International Kurash Association, presented details about efforts to develop this sport, including International competitions, training programs, and promotional activities. He noted that the inclusion of Kurash in UNESCO’s list would open new opportunities for athletes and sports enthusiasts.

During the meeting, Professor Kim Eur Joong from the International Kurash Institute delivered a presentation on the work carried out to achieve the inclusion of Kurash in the list.

Discussions were held on the remaining steps needed, and it was agreed that this process would play a crucial role in acknowledging the cultural significance of sports. Plans for collaborative actions were finalized.

Romania Actively Present at All Major Kurash Events Worldwide

Romania continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to the development of Kurash by actively participating in all major international events dedicated to this traditional sport around the world.

Merampi Iliadis – President of the European Kurash Confederation: The development of Kurash in Europe through National Olympic Committees is our constant focus

The year 2024, which is coming to an end, has been very challenging for us. Despite the crisis in Europe related to the war in Ukraine, we managed to hold the continental championship and other events at a fairly high level thanks to the financial support from IKA.
224 Kurash athletes (100 women and 124 men) participated in the European Championship held in Edirne, Turkey.
As in previous competitions, the following countries actively participated: Moldova, Turkiye, Greece, Romania, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Ukraine, Cyprus, Serbia, Poland, Georgia, Armenia.
It is worth noting that finally, after the change of leadership in the Armenian Kurash Federation, a team of 6 athletes arrived at the European Championship.
At this point, as it is necessary to emphasize the high organization of the European Championship, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Turkish Kurash Federation!!
Members of the Executive Committee of the European Kurash Confederation and I personally organized a meeting with the President of the Georgian Olympic Committee, 5-time world champion and Olympic champion Leri Khabelov. At the meeting the matters related to holding the European Championship in Tbilisi was discussed.
We also agreed on the provision of material and technical assistance to the Georgian Olympic Committee, as well as, the Georgian Kurash Federation.
In addition, the President of the Bulgarian Kurash Federation, Mr. Dimitri Dimitrov, held meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Bulgaria. The Bulgarian government positively accepted many of our proposals for the development of Kurash and hosting international competitions in the future. 
Also, several meetings were organized during the year with the President of the Olympic Committee of North Macedonia, Mr. Daniel Dinovski. 
It is significant to further popularize Kurash in countries through the National Olympic Committees. This issue is in the constant focus of the European Kurash Confederation’s leadership. 
Our work will continue in 2025. In January-February 2025, meetings are planned in Armenia and Azerbaijan with the National Olympic Committees and Ministries of Sports to activate the Kurash Federation in these countries.

România, prezentă la Campionatul Mondial de Kurash din Mongolia

În perioada 2–8 decembrie 2024, România a fost reprezentată cu onoare la Campionatul Mondial de Kurash, desfășurat la Ulan-Bator, Mongolia, prin Uniunea Democrată Tătară și Federația Română de Kurash.

Participare oficială la Congresul Mondial al International Kurash Association

Pe lângă participarea sportivilor români în competiție, România a fost prezentă și la Congresul Mondial al International Kurash Association (IKA), unde doi dintre reprezentanții de marcă ai țării noastre au luat parte activ:

Prezența lor la acest eveniment internațional a subliniat angajamentul României față de promovarea Kurash-ului ca sport tradițional cu valori puternice de respect, disciplină și prietenie între națiuni.

Propunere: România, gazda Congresului Mondial IKA 2025

În cadrul lucrărilor Congresului, delegația română a propus ca ediția din 2025 a Congresului Mondial IKA să fie organizată în România, în data de 6 septembrie – o zi cu însemnătate deosebită, fiind Ziua Internațională a Kurash-ului. Propunerea a fost bine primită, evidențiind deschiderea și capacitatea organizatorică a țării noastre.

Concluzie

Participarea României la acest eveniment de amploare mondială a fost una de succes, atât pe plan sportiv, cât și diplomatic. Felicitări tuturor celor implicați pentru reprezentarea demnă și pentru pașii importanți făcuți în consolidarea relațiilor internaționale din lumea Kurash-ului!
